Our Story

More than a market —
it's where we
meet.

Scott County Farmers Market has been a Saturday tradition in Scottsburg since 1995. What started as a handful of neighbors selling surplus from their gardens has grown into a vibrant weekly gathering that draws families, chefs, and anyone who believes food tastes better when it's grown close to home.

Every vendor in our market is a local grower, maker, or producer — no middlemen, no long shipping routes. Just hands that planted the seeds, harvested the crops, and baked the bread you'll find on your plate. That's the standard we hold ourselves to, season after season.

The calendar tells the story

Indiana soil is generous — but it keeps a schedule. Here's what you'll find at the market through each season.

Fresh Starts

Radishes, spinach, peas, and the first sweet cherries of the year. Herb starts and salad greens arrive by the bundle.

Heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn, strawberries, and peppers. This is when the market fills to capacity and the lines get long — worth every minute.

Fall harvest including apples and squash

Apples from nearby orchards, butternut squash, pumpkins, and the last of the sweet corn. Cider and preserves hit the stalls in force.

Quiet Months

The market rests from November through April, but vendors keep busy — planning seed orders, preserving the harvest, and getting ready for spring.

Our Vendors

Growers, makers,
neighbors

Every vendor at Scott County Farmers Market lives within an hour's drive. These are the people who know your name, remember your order, and can tell you exactly which day they picked what you're buying.

Our market features vegetable growers, fruit orchards, egg producers, beekeepers, bakers, and artisan food makers — each bringing something made with care and local ingredients. We welcome new vendors each season; if you grow, bake, or raise something worth sharing, we'd love to hear from you.

Community

Bring the family,
leave with more
than groceries.

The market is as much about connection as it is about food. Kids run between the stalls. Neighbors catch up over baskets of peaches. Chefs swap recipes with the person next to them. This is Scottsburg at its best — unpretentious, generous, and rooted in the land.
